Chamber Strings in Greece

Enjoy a unique musical experience on the Greek island of Kythira, the southernmost of the Ionian islands. Unspoilt by mass tourism, Kythira offers a rich variety of beaches, villages and countryside. Greece in May and early June is a revelation to those who only know the country in summer – the air is fresh and all the hills and meadows are green and covered in wild flowers. Our schedule mirrors Greek island life, with rehearsals in the morning and early evening, leaving the afternoons and late evenings free for other activities.
The venue used for the bulk of our rehearsals is an open-air amphitheatre near the sea in Kapsali. Our ethos is non-competitive and inclusive. This year's tutors are Ruth Gibson, viola, and Adi Tal, cello. Both players are recognised world-class performer, as well as both being great teachers - encouraging, informative and inspirational at all times. In addition to their teaching and conducting roles they will be giving a concert of their own during the course of the week. Year by year we continue to build on our partnership with the island's wind band, the Potamos Philharmoniki. Together we give memorable joint performances as part of our final concert.
