AMCP Eighth Annual Worldwide Play-in Weekend, March 7 & 8, 2020!

ACMP’s annual chamber music jamming weekend, the Worldwide Play-in Weekend, took place on March 7 and 8, 2020, with some a little before and some a little after.

Some play-ins that were scheduled had to be cancelled due to the spread of the Coronavirus but the organizers are eager to reschedule when this worldwide health emergency subsides.

Musicians around the globe held events that brought together chamber music players to experience the joy of playing chamber music. From beginners, experienced amateurs, to professionals—kids, parents and grandparents alike—are were welcome to participate and play. A new feature this year, ACMP collaborated with community-based music schools, arts centers, and community groups to create Play-in “hubs,” to create broad access to the event. Thee 2020 Worldwide Play-in was also a great opportunity to celebrate Beethoven’s 250th birthday by playing his music during your Play-in event.

Play-in locations included: New York City – an all-Bach Brandenburg play-in – as well as West Newton, MA; Philadelphia, PA; Coral Gables, FL; Flint, Michigan; Princeton, NJ; San Lorenzo, CA; Troy, NY; Indianapolis, IN; Echo Park; Glen Echo Park, MD (Washington, DC, area); Queens, NYC; Vernon Rockville, CT; Brussels, Belgium; Geneva, Switzerland; Berlin, Germany; North York, Ontario, Canada.
