25% ACMP Discount for Tamarack Arts: August 12 - 15

Tamarack Arts is the brainchild of cellist Emily Wright, who has long specialized in teaching adult students of all levels. Many teachers do not differentiate between children and adults in their instructional approach, leaving many older students unchallenged and feeling like second choice.

Emily is offering a 25% discount to ACMP member string players for Tamarack Arts' inaugural online string workshop this August 12 - 15. Please log into the ACMP website first and click on Member Discounts for the coupon code to get your 25% discount at check-out!

About Tamarack Arts, founder Emily Wright writes:

While children have a much discussed edge in certain aspects of learning things like instruments or languages, adults carry their own advantages that not all teachers know to seek out and emphasize. Adults possess qualities like discipline, willingness to stick at a task, a desire to understand greater context, a genuine affection for the music, time management, life experience, emotional maturity, and intellectual curiosity— all of which make them wonderfully prime to take on the challenge of learning a new instrument. Ms. Wright has made a career out of creating novel and adaptable lessons, workshops, and curricula for this underserved cohort of music students.

Tamarack is an extension of this philosophy, with the mission of bringing the very best of conservatory and festival learning and collaboration to earnest amateur musicians. The inaugural session is for string players of all levels, August 12-15, online. There are two tracks: standard, which includes two private lessons, and workshop-only. Since there will be no ensemble playing, this is a single program for all levels. Workshops include a discussion of the 12 major bow techniques with Dr. Benjamin Whitcomb, scales as meditation with Rachel Gawell,Vivacious Vibrato with Natalie Spehar, tone color and emoting with Stephanie Sims Flack, Linguistics and Music with Kristin Gomez, efficiently learning a new piece with Erica Sipes and much more. More information available here

Online programming will be offered continuously, and a physical location will be announced in 2022, with goal of providing year-round access to lessons, workshops, and discussions with world-class faculty and visiting guest artists. Details here.
